I founded Lean Coaching in June 2002, to do what it \u2018says on the tin\u2019, coach in Lean.<\/span><\/div>

After years of consulting, culminating in 4 years at McKinsey & Co., it was clear to me that what most companies which are engaged in Operations needed, was a sustained improvement process based on the philosophy and principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS), also called Lean.<\/span><\/h4>

My mentor at the time, Peter Willats, introduced me to the equation:\u00a0R=PxC<\/a><\/strong>, where the\u00a0R<\/strong>ealisable potential equals the (full\/financial)\u00a0P<\/strong>rocess, times the C<\/strong>apability of the organisation \u2013 i.e. even when there is an abundance of potential, the collective capability of the organisation (Management) is usually the limiting factor!<\/span><\/h4>

The recognition of this truth, together with the more in-depth acquaintance with the approach used by Toyota when setting up \u2018trans-plants\u2019 (copying the mother plants\u2019 systems into new plants), gradually re-focused my attention from the \u2018what\u2019 (the tools) to implement, to the \u2018how\u2019 (coaching) to implement.<\/span><\/h4><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
